The Annual Research Forum (ARF) is the major meeting of the CRC for Irrigation Futures. In this fifth meeting the focus is on delivery. The specific objectives of the 2008 ARF are to:

  1. Develop and strengthen delivery of CRC IF outputs into Federal and State water policy and planning processes.
  2. Provide an insight into the role, operating environment and processes of water policy makers and bureaucrats and how research can contribute.
  3. Build the collaborative research culture required to deliver against the CRC’s mission.

To be part of this exciting forum you must register by 10 August 2008.

Venue
The Annual Research Forum this year has a policy focus and will take place in Canberra at University House, Australian National University.

Invitees
Current CRC members are expected to attend the Annual Research Forum. Other people, either end users or researchers from our partners not yet connected with the CRC, are welcome to attend. These people require a CRC member to sponsor their application.

A number of guests from Federal and State water policy and planning organisations will also be attending. If you have someone you would like to invite please contact Kelvin Montagu (Kelvin.montagu@irrigationfutures.org.au or (02) 4570 1405).

Presentations
The Annual Research Forum gives participants a great opportunity to present their work. This year Program Leaders will be co-ordinating an integrated presentation of the two programs on Wednesday.
Additional oral and poster presentations are required for Tuesday and Thursday.
If you wish to present on these days you must submit an abstract by 10 August on the registration site.

Costs
The CRC pays for conference attendance, accommodation, meals and tour costs for CRC members (note: only accommodation booked through the CRC will be covered; Student costs are covered by their operating support budget). However, you must register via the CRC website by 10 August. If you register after this date you will be invoiced for these costs and we cannot guarantee accommodation availability. Any additional expenses incurred must be covered by attendees.

Travel
The cost of travel to the Annual Research Forum should be met from your host institution or CRC budgets. Attendees are to organise their own travel to and from the forum. The CRC has a very limited budget to assist with travel expenses and applications are made through the registration process. Preference will be given to people who cannot access project/zone/program funds and who are presenting, or have high travel expenses due to distance or remote location.
