Improving River Health

Land clearing and pollutant discharge are only two of the human activities affecting the health of our rivers. So the question is; what can be done to improve river health? Uthpala Pinto, a UWS PhD candidate, is looking to answer that very question.

The project, entitled “Development of a River Health Assessment Framework and Toolkit – A Case Study of the Hawkesbury-Nepean River System”, aims to assess the main problems and to develop a practical framework and toolkit to measure river health.

Pinto is currently seeking Western Sydneysiders to participate in a survey, created to gauge people’s thoughts on the Hawkesbury-Nepean River. The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and can be downloaded here . Otherwise, to email Pinto, click on the below contact details.
